1970 - 1971
Westwood Manor Apartments built; Howe's first major apartment complex.

1972
First council woman - Carrie Waller elected.
Howe's Betsy Ross is Carrie Waller who designed and made Howe's first flag and Howe Centennial Seal.
Charles R. Thompson retires. Superintendent of Howe ISD 27 years.
Wyline Pool retires as Howe Middle School Principal, taught 6 years Elementary, Middle School Principal 21 years.

June 10, 1973
Dedication of Historical marker.  Hall Cemetery.  Hall Cemetery Association officers: President, Harrison Davis; Secretary - Treasurer, Mrs. R. L. Rolbert; Honorary Secretary, Miss Minnie Brooks. The first trustees in 1859 were: W. C. Davis, John Haning, and B. F. White.

1975
Howe ISD builds band hall and an addition to field house at football field.

January 22, 1979
Late Spearker of the House, Sam Rayburn dedicated the new Post Office (now city hall).
