 The Whitewright Sun Friday, August 18, 1916 pg. 1 WOMAN KILLED IN RUNAWAY Sherman, August 13 - As Mr. and Mrs. Dave Carter were returning to their home near Hagerman from a visit to Flowing Wells Sunday evening shortly after 6 o'clock their team became frightened and ran away, throwing both occupants of the vehicle to the ground, killing Mrs. Carter instantly and injuring her husband so severely that his death is expected to result. Mr. Carter is about 55 years of age and his wife about 50. They reside on the Sid Hernsteadt place near Hagerman and were the parents of 10 children. They had spent the day at Flowing Wells and were on their way home when the runaway took place.
