HAGERMAN
To the Democrat:

Hagerman, November 16 - The coldest norther of the season is on us, and some are taking advantage of it by killing their hogs.
Misses Matney, Massey, and Loughmiller returned Friday week from the Grayson County Teachers' Institute at Sherman.
Our school celebrated Armistice Day by readings, recitations, and songs appropriate to the occasion.  The entire school marched through town with drum beat and martial call, saluting the flag and reciting in unison the creed of peace on earth, good will to men.
Harper Bros.' Comedy Shows left last night after having staged plays here for the past week.  Twenty per cent of the proceeds was allowed the schools, besides a handsome canvas hand-painted curtain for the stage was conceded to the most popular young lady which by vote fell to Miss Ruby Scott, to whom the honor of presenting the curtain to the school was given.  Much fun was enjoyed by the series of plays, which were clean and high class, large crowds attending every night.
Mrs. Herbert Herring of Waxahachie spent a short time here with relatives last week en route to Mangrum, Oklahoma, where she goes to visit her parents.
Mrs. King and Miss Catherine Divine of Denison were here in the interest of the Red Cross last week.
Mr. and Mrs. M.W. McConnell and Messrs. Herd and Gray of Gordonville were pleasant callers at the home of W.J. Gardiner last Thursday night.
Mrs. M.J. Wood of Basin Springs is here visiting her son, C.H. Reid, and other relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Murrow returned home Sunday from Waco, where they have been visiting relatives for several weeks.
R.C. Dryden attended a Masonic meeting in Whitesboro Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. John Blakeley went to Gordonville Sunday to attend the wedding of their friend, Miss Ruth Dycus and Mr. Gaddis of Whitewright.
Mrs. T.M. Smith entertained a number of friends at her home Tuesday with a delicious dinner at high noon in honor of a family and neighbor's birthday celebration.  It was an enjoyable event to all those who participated as is always the case when Mrs. Smith, the most gracious of hostesses, entertains.
Rev. Wycoff, who has recently given up a pastorate of a North Fort Worth congregation, filled the pulpit here on the first Sunday in November.  Rev. Wycoff has accepted the pastorate of this church and will preach once a month regularly.
Rev. W.M. Shelton filled the pulpit here on the second Sunday in November to the delight of all.  He will preach here regularly two Sundays in the month for the Methodist congregation.
Rev. G.W. Scott will preach regularly on Sunday in the month, making the Sundays all filled for the year.  We as a people feel that we are particularly fortunate in receiving such splendid religious consideration and with the spiritual co-operation of our people and surrounding community, we hope to make the year one of marked inspirational benefit to all.
Sunday school meets every Sunday morning at 10 a.m.  The attendance holds up good the entire year.  Sufficient funds are never lacking for the expenses of the school and at Christmas a budget is always ready for distribution amongst the children and often a donation to the orphanages of the two congregations.  T.M. Smith, the faithful superintendent, and Mrs. T.M. Smith, the secretary, who are always "on the job" with an able corps of teachers, make the school one worth the notice of the entire community and the teaching of which would be beneficial to all.  Every one, young and old, are cordially invited to attend.
