The Cranfills lived on Dr. William's place across from the George Scoggin home and in the Guy Cobler house 1-1/2
miles northeast of Ethel's main street.  On December 14, 1949, Noah F. Cranfill and wife, Adah Johnson Cranfill, purchased 42 acres from C.F. Pelphrey in the Benjamin styles Survey.  They moved there with their two youngest of six children, Lowell and Zelma.  After these children had graduated from Collinsville High School and left home to start their own homes, Mr. Cranfill bought the Ethel Baptist Church in 1957.  Almost entirely by himself, he tore that building down, moved the lumber with his old tractor and trailer and built a nice home  His brother-in-law, Lee Hanning, did help some -mostly
with the roof.  They were able to live the rest of their lives in this house.  Mrs. Cranfill passed away in February 1977 and Mr. Cranfill in October 1987.
