Sherman Democrat Bi-Centennial Edition COTTON GINNING TIME BRINGS OUT GRAYSON COUNTY FARMERS This cotton gin at Ethel, photographed in 1898, shows how Grayson County farmers brought their produce to town. Horse-drawn wagons carried the cotton to the remote gin in the southwestern part of the county. The tall smokestack at the right eliminated smoke produced from the cotton burrs. Cotton was a major crop in early days. Ethel History Susan Hawkins © 2024 If you find any of Grayson CountyTXGenWeb links inoperable, please send me a message. |
