The Women's Missionary Society Union of the First Baptist Church met Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Mack Roberts in charge of the Royal Service program.
Rev. J.N. Sides cheffered [sic] the "Off to Camp" GA girls and their counselor, Mrs. Sides to Lake Lavon Baptist Encampment in their new Mercury automobile Monday morning. After numerous rearranging, Rev. Sides finally loaded six suitcases, two paper sacks and four large boxes of Mrs. Sides literature which she'll use as she teaches classes in Mission Study, Drama and charm. Girls going to camp were Dianne Boughner, Mary Gail Taylor, and Virginia Lankford. As of last Friday 479 girls had been enrolled in the camp.
Miss Leta Mae Bennett, Dorchester post mistress, has gone to Groom, Texas to visit with Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Woods and Mrs.L.E. Driscoll. "Holding down the Fort" at the Post Office is Mrs. Frank Walkup.
Most husbands could take lessons from the Norman boys on how to treat your wife. Jack and Texana celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary by going to Dallas for dinner at the Port of Call restaurant and attended a movie on July 1st. Alton and Jean Norman celebrated on July 11th with diiner at the famous Cattleman's Restaurant and a movie on their 1st anniversary.
A wedding shower honoring Miss Judy Faber and Edward B. Collins was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Stewart July 10th in the evening. Co-hostesses were Mrs. J.C. Martiner, Mrs. James Jaresh, Mrs. Jack Jones, Mrs. Joe Webber, and Mrs. Jack Clements. The bride's chosen colors of yellow and white were carried out with a yellow table cloth covered with white net and a centerpiece if yellow marigolds. Cake and soft drinks were served to approximately 80 guests. Mr. Collins and Miss Faber are to be married in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sherman July 24.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Helms have as guests his brother, Mr. Charlie Helms of Shamrock, Texas and her niece and family, Mr. and Mrs. Murrel Harris and children of Elroy, Arizona and Mrs. Helm's daughter and granddaughter from Dallas.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bennett had her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. H.D. Chesley and children from Houston as guests recently.
A send-off "cook out" for Mr. and Mrs. David Cavender and son Dave and Mrs. Cavender's mother, Mrs. Edna Jones was held at Crestview Lake Friday night. Over 30 guests attended. The David Cavenders were on their way home to Riverside, California, having been here for an annual Cavender reunion which was held July 4th. It was noted that all ten children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cavender were here with their families making it a most memorable time for all.
Visiting in our home this week were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wilson and children from Denton on Wednesday and Thursday and on Sunday my sister and her family, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Neal and sons and Miss Regina Costain all of Ft. Worth.
