The Denison City Gas Works first operated in March 1876 with a gas made of parafine and gasoline.
Denison Daily News Tuesday, August 27, 1878 The
Denison Gas Works was in operation on the night of Monday, August 27,
1878 and McDougall's Bank Exchange was the first business house in
Denison to be "lighted up." The price for gas was $4 per 1,000
feet and a discount was given for 5% - 25%, determined by the amount of
