Sunday, April 6, 1884 pg. 1 THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE There were only 1320 votes polled at the municipal elections.....The results are as follows: First Ward For Mayor Hanna - 152 Cook - 66 Second Ward For Mayor Hanna - 246 Cook - 198 Third Ward For Mayor Hanna - 239 Cook - 163 Fourth Ward For Mayor Hanna - 130 Cook - 116 Dr. Hanna received 777 votes, and Esquire Cook 543; Hanna's majority, 234....Dr. Hanna was in every sense the people's candidate. He did not want the office, and only reluctantly gave his consent, when called on by a petition from over two hundred of the best citizens of Denison, including leading men of both parties, who assured him politices was to be entirely ignored in the campaign. ![]() City Officials Copyright © 2025, TXGenWeb.
