The
E.M. Kohl building was purchased in 1968 by Mr. and Mrs. Bud Tucker.
It was sold in 1975 to Bob and Betty Brandt and restored by their
sons, Bill, Bob & Charles. That year the building became a
recorded Texas Historic Landmark and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Brandt brothers owned a building across the street that they operated the "Down by the Station" night club. Bob and Betty closed the restaurant in the 1980s when Bill and Charles moved on to pursue other interests..
