Mosse, 65, has retired as superintendent of mail at the Denison Post Office after 47 years and 8 months of service, ending a career that ended spanned the period between horseback letter carriers and the zip code. Mosse retired on his doctor's advise after a November illness. Prior to that he had accumulated 7,809 hours of sick leave. "I remember one morning a rein which wasn't in too good a shape broke and I just hung onto the saddle for the most of the route. That horse knew it better than I did, He would up to every box and wait for me to put in the mail, then go on." Mosse smiled. "But I had to watch out when he took a couple of shortcuts under low tree limbs." he added. NEW SCHOOL When Mosse entered Denison High as a freshman in 1914 it was the first year for the new building, now McDaniel Junior High. In 1917 he graduated from Denison High School and went on to TCU a semester for an officer preparatory training program as he anticipated service in World War I. However, the Armistice settled that, and he returned to Denison. Mosse played fullback on the Yellow Jacket team of the day and played bass drum in the band.
