....Later the post office was moved to Main and Burnett, and still later it was located at 301 W. Woodard street.  All of the locations were in leased buildings.  In 1912 the present federal building was completed and became the home of the postoffice, at Woodard and Rusk.  The grounds around the building were landscaped by the Denison Garden Club.
A comparative study of receipts at the postoffice here over the past 13 years as released this week by Acting Postmaster J.R. Brown, shows that Denison's receipts have increased almost four-rold, jumping from $46,463.54 in 1933 to $116,511.98 in 1946.
By year since 1933 the figures total as follows:

The 1887 City Directory lists William "Sanders" as a salesman for Waples, Platter & Co.  He lived at 417 W. Woodard.  In the 1890s he went into business for himself as a produce commission agent.  He and Frances moved to 511 W. Gandy, where they were living at the time of his death in 1899.   William, according to family members, changed his surname from "Saunders" to "Sanders" after he grew up.  By 1907 Frances and Edna had become the "Saunders" again.
The 1891 Bird's Eye Map and 1897 Sanborn Fire Insurance Map show 600 W. Gandy (corner of Mirick & Gandy streets) a vacant lot.
Frances "Frankie" and her daughters moved to 600 W. Gandy sometime after 1901.  The 1903 Sanborn Fire Map shows a house with the configuration matching the one in the above photograph.  The 1907 City Directory lists the owner as Frances Ritchey Saunders (1854 - 1928), widow of William, who died in 1899.  Frances operated a millinery shop at 420 W. Main St.  Her daughter, Frances Edna (1887 - 1949), married Dr. Arthur Freels (1863 - 1925) in 1911.
