BURTIS PHARMACY HAS OLDEST STAND The Denison Herald
July 7, 1938 The Burtis Pharmacy, 408 West Main, which boasts the largest stock of drugs in North Texas, has been a daily adverterser in The Denison Herald since P. W. Burtis purchased the store in 1880. The location of Burtis Pharmacy is the oldest location used for a drug store in Denison. Since purchasing the People's Pharmacy eighteen years ago, the Burtis Pharmacy has absorbed the Denison drug business. The store today...twelve persons. In addition to the prescription department, drugs and sundries, it has a modern soda fountain with booths. Recently the store started filling Katy railroad prescriptions. Mr. Burtis started in the drug business with his brother, John R. Burtis, who opened drug stores in Madison and in Anderson counties in Texas fifty years ago. P. W.
