Denison's First Birthday New Orleans (LA) Times-Picayune
September 16, 1873 p. 4 The citizens of Denison, Texas, have resolved to celebrate the first anniversary of their highly prosperous town, on the 23rd inst., by closing all places of business and joining in a grand barbecue in the city park, to which the inhabitants of the whole county are invited. Though not a year old -a mere crawling infant in age - Denison has now over 5,000 inhabitants and does the business of an 8,000 inhabitant town, as shown by its commercial, financial and other accounts.
