COLLINSVILLE POSTMISTRESS RETIRES AFTER 32 YEARS
Collinsville - A woman who helped in the growth of the Collinsville post office and furnished its equipment, Mrs. Nadyne McGee, resigned recently ager 32 years as postmaster. She had been in the postal service for 40 years. G.C. Walker, formerly employed by Woodall Motor Co., Tioga, has been appointed acting postmaster. He is the ninth person to serve as postmaster. He had previously been with motor and oil companies in Whitesboro, Celina and Collinsville. A native of Collinsville, Mrs. McGehee became postmaster in February 1934, two months after she had been named acting postmaster. She began her postal career in 1915 as assistant postmaster under her father, C.F. Goodman. She graduated from Collinsville High School in 1914. After some 8 years as assistant postmaster, Mrs. McGehee became city secretary here and later worked in Sherman, and Hollis, Oklahoma. In 192w6 she returned to Collinsville and for the next 6 years was employed by Pelfrey's dry goods store. At the beginning of her career, there were 2 rural mail carriers and a postal clerk at the post office located at the southnwest part of the business....
