T&P and MKT Depot Collinsville July 3, 1919 A.J. Grogard, Sr., Train Depot Master, seated at the desk Contributed by Joyce Hightower My Grandma said that when they were building the school (1941), they had
classes in town next to the train depot. The girls used to sit
and watch the trains carrying servicemen through town. They would
write their addresses down and tie them to rocks and stuff and throw
them up to the boys as they went by. It was just so they could
write letters back and forth while they were overseas.
I remember the train depot and workers houses. We played around the station on Saturday afternoons when I was a kid and our parents were at the drawing! It was located on the first road north of Hughes off of Hwy 377. It (depot) sat on the right; on the left were houses for the railroad workers. I think they called them section foremans' housing, on Pierce Road. Collinsville History Copyright © 2024, TXGenWeb. Grayson County TXGenWeb |
