Friday, Friday, July 27, 1917 pg. 8 Canaan-Everheart July 23 - The meeting conducted at Everheart by the pastor, Rev. Smith, closed last evening. The bountiful rains recently received were a great benefit to the growing crops. Corn was just saved, cotton badly in need of rain was greatly benefited. E.C. Lankford lost a mule recently valued at $200. Mrs. A.J. Bowles is expected in from an extended visit to relatives in Kentucky. Mr. and Mrs. Fl yd Everheart announce the birth of a fine girl. Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Lankford visited Mr. and Mrs. A.G. Meador near Denison Sunday. Mrs. J.E. Rutledge spent Sunday with Mrs. J.D. Garner. L.P. Sears has recently built a barn on one of his places here. Following are a few of the young men drawn in the recent draft: Frank and Tom Hicks, Geo. and Lafayette Garner, Roy and Elza Taylor, Preston and Marshall Everheart, Wesley Fulbright, Tom Ruth. Complimentary to Miss Euline Wakefield, Miss Kegga Blanton entertained the following with a dinner party: Misses Loreine and Inez McMillin, Hattie Taylor, Margaret Hansard, Apelone Wakefield.
