CANAAN-EVERHEART NEWS
A cold norther accompanied by rain is the latest visitor on record in this community.  As a prelude to winter, it is meeting with success, for fresh meat and pleasant hours reading the latest happenings by the cozy fireside is a pleasant luxury to all.
Two election returns which caused so much comment the past week is over and every one realizes this has been the most interesting as well as the most important election that has been held for years.  Now is the time for every loyal citizen of this great government to lend every assistance possible to maintain the position that we now hold, to keep up a standard that has proven worthy of all.
Rev. W.A.  Kirkpatrick filled his regular appointment Sunday.
As a mode of celebrating her birthday, Mrs. W.L. White gave a dinner party Sunday, immediate relatives being the only guests.
Melvin Lankford of this community and Miss Nora Collins of Honey Grove were married at the latter's home in Honey Grove on Sunday last.  Mrs. Lankford comes from a splendid family and is sure to make many friends here.  Mr. Lankford is a brother of E.E. Lankford of this community and is a prosperous farmer.  A large party was given in their honor by Mrs. B. Garner, assisted by Mrs. J. Ryon on Monday.  We extend congratulations for their future happiness.  They will reside here.,
Messrs. Claude Booher of Ely and Geo. and Lafayette Garner visited relatives and friends at Trenton and Nobility Saturday and Sunday.
Miss Kugga Blanton is spending the winter with her grandparents at Orangeville.
B. Garner was summoned to Paris Tuesday where his daughter, Mrs. J.J. Jenkins is seriously ill with appendicitis.
Mrs. Helena Wilburn and children, Winzie and Reba, of StateRoad, North Carolina, are guests of W.L. White and family.
Charley Allison of Ely is a guest of Geo. and Lafayette Garner.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Lankford, a big boy, the 7th.
J.D. Cox and family are moving to town.  P.E. Everheart and family will move to the place vacated by Mr. Cox as soon as the house is remodeled.
Mrs. J.M. Everheart and children of Kerrville will move to this community soon and will reside in the house now occupied by Wm. Mills and family as soon as the house is remodeled.  These good people will be welcomed as they formerly lived here and have many friends in this section.
