Sherman, Texas
Sunday Gazetteer
October 18, 1891
Several
months since a young man by the name of William
Davis was found unconscious in front of a drug store in
Sherman,
as he was without money and as there was no possible means of proving
his
identity, he was sent to the county poor farm. He lingered in the
condition
in which he was found until a week ago while recovering from an attack
of brain fever. He began to show signs of returning to consciousness.
He
is now very nearly well and states that he had $240 in cash and a watch
on his person when he entered a saloon on the square in Sherman and
that
the last he remembers is taking a drink from a bottle in the rear of
the
building. |
