A Peculiar Case
DENISON, Tex., Feb. 10 - A peculiar case is reported from Cameron, I.T. This week while federal court was in session there Thomas Conner, an old, grizzled ex-confederate soldier, was arraigned on the charge of introducing whisky into the Territory against the federal statutes. He appeared before the judge and pleaded guilty, stating that he introduced the whisky intentionally for the purpose of getting into jail. He said he had no home, no place to stay and was unable to earn a livelihood, and desired to get a sentence in the workhouse where he could spend the balance of his days without the worry of existence in an inhospitable world.
