Friday, August 1, 1879 pg. 4 Yesterday, Mr. J.R. Coffin and wife presented themselves before Judge Steadman and asked permission to adopt the little girl w hich was left in a box under a mover's wagon, on Post Oak creek, by unknown hands a few weeks since. Judge Steadman gave them an order on Mr. Daggy, keeper of the poor famr, for the child, a nd by this t ime it is provided with a kind home. Mr. Coffin is an engineer ont the M.K. & T. railroad,. Mrs. Coffin was herself a foundling, cared for by strange hands in her infancy; hence, there is an affection in that woman's heart for the littl stray waif which time cannot efface or the world's sneers wither. They will call her "Mary Bell." - - - Register
