Sherman
people have pledged themselves to furnish a house and contents
consisting of furniture and other furnishings for children who make
their home at the Grayson County poor farm in order to better their
condition. Mrs. James Boyd, Mrs. Walter Collins, Mrs. John Suggs,
and Mrs. W.J. Leeper of Denison pledged themselves to furnish a
complete outfit for a kitchen to be used in the house, and with other
furnishings given by Sherman people. These ladies have been
assisted considerably, but are ready to receive any other donations
that the people wish to give toward furnishing the kitchen outfit
complete for the children of the poor farm.
A visit to the county
poor farm a short time ago developed a fact that the children confined
in that institution were being badly neglected on account of the poor
equipment and furnishings. The conditions were bad for the
children and the visit developed this fact, which resulted in a united
effort to better the condition in every way possible. This is
being done by the public-spirited action of Denison and Sherman people
who know and are ready to tell of the past conditions and what they
expect to accomplish in the future. - - - Denison Herald
