SHERMAN
They found the poor farm with 31 inmates, more than half of
whom are not citizens of Texas, and one of them is a disabled United
States soldier. The poor are well sheltered, well fed, and moderately
well clothed, and the manager, Mr. Wells, is credited with humane and considerate treatment of all under him.

Tibbs has been furnished with a report of the present status of the
county poor farm, from which we take the following list of the present
inmates, places of residence, etc.:
Tabitha Searcy, lunatic, December 2, 1878, Denison, Texas
Lizzie Eldridge, lunatic, July 30, 1879, Grayson County, Texas
Mary Cole, idiotic. She is probably half Indian. Was admitted June 5, 1879.
George M. Blain, idiotic, and part of the time insane, April 13, 1882, Sherman
Martha Everage, no date, Grayson county. Lunatic. Sent to Terrell July 17, 1885
