About two months ago a man named Clay Waitman, under arrest for horse stealing,
escaped from the officers while being taken to Sherman. Deputy Constable Loving
received information Sunday that Waitman had returned to his home east of the
city and went out after him. He succeeded in capturing his man, and brought him

Clay Waitman was tried to-day before U. S. Commissioner Peck, on a charge of stealing meat from his father, in the Chickasaw Nation. The evidence against him was conclusive, and he was bound over to appear befor [sic] the next term of the U.S. District Court at Dallas, his bond being set at $600."---The Sunday Gazetteer.
