Buffalo Bill
1846 - 1917 William
Frederick Cody joined the Pony Express at the age of 14, fitting the
advertizing position of "skinny, expert riders willing to risk death
daily." He fought in the American Civil War, was a scout for
the
Army and an Old West legend.

Hunting and killing over 4,000 buffalo earned Bill Cody his nickname "Buffalo Bill." In 1867 he began his buffalo hunting to feed construction crews building railroads. In 1883, Cody founded his own show "Buffalo Bill's Wild West", a circus-like extravaganza which toured in the United States and Europe for three decades. His show starred sharpshooter, Annie Oakley, and, for one run, Chief Sitting Bull. Famous & Infamous Copyright © 2024, TXGenWeb..
