June 16, 1935 Flooding and Twisters all across Texas: "Special to the News", Denison, Texas June 15 - Red River rose 10 feet in as many hours when a three-inch rain registered at the Red-Tex Government station Friday night, according to Bob Steele, agent. Saturday morning the river stood at fifteen feet and was expected to rise further when tributary streams became swollen. Rainfall in Denison registered 3.38." "Park is under water" Special to the News, Sherman, Texas, June 15 - Post Oak Creek in Sherman was again on the verge of a rampage Saturday. Five inches of rain fell in this city between 8 am Friday and 8 am Saturday, plus an almost continuous downpour the rest of the day, had the treacherous little creek out of banks in many places. Brents Park was under water Saturday and workmen were at all the bridges that cross Post Oak watching for drift wood that spelled doom in the flood early in May for four, since replaced. A washout at Culton, five miles southeast of Sherman on the Cotton Belt, and high water at Randolph was holding up traffic. The Missouri-Kansas-Texas in Sherman reported all lines in Grayson County all right Saturday but washouts south of Dallas were holding up traffic. The Frisco reported nothing washed out but that men were being kept on watch of the lines at all dangerous places. Whitewright reported 3.53 inches of rain between 4pm Friday and 8am Saturday."
