Last Wednesday after noon at 3 o'clock a thermometer which hangs on the north side of a dwelling house under the porch roof, registered 105. This was the hottest day of the year. The wind blew gently from the south, and the air was hot enough to nearly blister the face. It felt like air off a desert.
