Sherman Daily Democrat
Wednesday, August 23, 1916 pg.5 The residence of B.H. Wallace, corner of Cleveland Avenue and Chaffin street, burned last night shortly after midnight. The house belonged to Mrs. Vernon Brown and was a modern 5-room cottage. Mr. Wallace had $500 insurance on the household goods, which will not cover the loss. The damange to the building will probably reach $1,500 and is partly covered by insurance. Mr. Wallace was at home by himself when the fire broke out and had a narrow escape in getting from the building, the entire interior of the structure, with the exception of his sleeping apartment, being on fire when he awoke, and the flames awoke him when they reached into that room. The fire department did splendid work in preventing the spread of the fire, as the house was located in a thickly settled part of the city. Mr. Wallace is a well known barber of this city.
