Giles and Zilpha were the parents of Trigg A. Jones, b ca 1835; Emeline Jones, b ca 1837; Mary Jones, b ca 1839; Sarah Ann Jones, b March 24,1841, d 1921 when she was burned in a yard fire. Her husband, William C. McKay, b August 24, 1851, d May 2, 1925, and both are buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin; Elizabeth Jones, b ca 1843; Nancy Jones, b ca 1845; John B. Jones, b ca 1847, d 1912 -who married Annie Singer, b June 18, 1858 at Port Lavaca, Texas, d November 26, 1959 and buried in Calvary Cemetery - a daughter of Colonel Edgar Collins and Harriet Newell (Remington) Singer, and had one known son, Ethol S. Jones, b August 12, 1895, d November 27, 1899 and buried in Calvary Cemetery; and Columbus Moore Jones - the youngest child. Giles Jones was a son of John and Nancy (Trigg) Jones, who had moved to Tennessee at an early date. Soon after the death of the father, Giles Jones, Columbus - traveling by boat in 1867 with his widowed mother, and his siblings, John B. and Sarah Ann (called "Sallie") Jones, arrived in Galveston, Texas - and subsequently moved by wagon and team to Marlin, Falls County, Texas, where Columbus bought land and reared his family.
"Lum" was married first to Elizabeth Ann Moore (called Bettie), b May 1854, d July 6, 1878 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, and they had one daughter, Pearl Jones, who married a Mr. Nettles.
In 1880, "Lum" was married second to Georgia Virginia Phipps, b February 14, 1862, d November 4, 1927 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin - a daughter of Tolliver and Sarah Jane (Hughes) Phipps. They had three children:
Henry Columbus Jones, b August 26,1882 in Marlin, Texas, d February 20, 1965 - married Agnes Weatherred, b June 3, 1879, d December 14, 1966; and had two sons.
Willie Mae Jones - no further information.
Ruth Jones - no further information.
Columbus Moore Jones and his son, Henry Columbus farmed together on the family land - a 53-acre farm on the Rock Dam Road, which was later expanded with the purchase of other Brazos River bottom land. They both took great pride in their agricultural pursuits, winning blue ribbons and trophies whenever they were entered in fairs.
The descendants of Columbus Moore Jones have lived in Marlin, Falls County, Texas, since he made his there - now almost 120 years.
