Dick Gordon Garrett
Surnames: GARRETT, VARNADO, RUSH, ALLEN, HARLESS, MARTIN, CHATHAM, GREGER.Dick Gordon Garrett, b May 16, 1931 in Marlin- was a son of Edward Guy and Hattie Alma (Varnado) Garrett, Sr. He was a graduate of Marlin High School. On February 3, 1951 in Marlin, Gordon married Irene Rush, b December 21, 1932 in Marlin - a daughter of Henry David and Octavia (Allen) Rush - both natives of Marlin.
Gordon is a rancher in the Stranger Community. He and Irene had four children:
David Guy Garrett, b January 30, 1954 in Marlin - married April 20, 1975 in Marlin to Cynthia Gayle
Martin, b November 23, 1954 in Marlin - a daughter of T. L. and Ruby (Harless) Martin. David and Cynthia purchased the Durwood Chatham at Stranger, where they live and he is a rancher. They have two daughters: Amanda Lynne Garrett, b December 14, 1978; and Krystal Gayle Garrett, b February 22, 1982.
Elizabeth Gayle Garrett, b October 4, 1955 in Marlin - married June 24, 1978 in Marlin to Dennis Ray Allen, b October 23,1952. They have a daughter, Kimberley Nycole Allen, b June 29, 1984.
Carol Lynne Garrett, b August 10, 1959 in Marlin - married May 11, 1980 to David Greger son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin L. Greger of Lott, Texas. Lynne works at Central Texas Savings and Loan in Marlin, and they have two daughters: Alicia Christine Greger, b August 11,1982; and Meghan Marie Greger, b July 3,1984.
Lea Edward Garrett, b July 31, 1965 in Marlin, lives at Stranger, and is not married.
