William I. Clawson

Clawson, b December 18, 1864 in Jefferson County, Mississippi, d March 27, 1950 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Falls County, Texas- was a son of William Martin Clawson, b ca 1843 Mississippi, d January 9, 1915 at Reagan and buried in Covington Cemetery there, and his wife, Mary Jane (Saxon) Clawson, b December 25, 1846 in Lee County, Mississippi, d March 16, 1939 in Marlin at the of her daughter, Mrs. G. A. (Annie Clawson) Kunze. The parents were married on October 9, 1863 in Lee County, and William Martin Clawson served in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War.
On Christmas Day 1885, the Clawson family - including the parents and some children, William I., Joshua Saxon Clawson, who married Lilla Burney, a daughter of Simon and Ellen Caroline (Hunnicutt) Burney. R. Q. Clawson, and Annie Clawson arrived at Stranger in Falls County, Texas, where they lived for many years before moving to Reagan.
William I. Clawson was married to Clara C. Coen, b June 2, 1867, d November 18, 1948 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin. They were the parents of nine children:
Orvie Clawson, b July 12, 1888 at Stranger, d October 5, 1943 and buried in Stranger Cemetery.
A. P. Clawson, a son who married and moved to Port Arthur, Texas. No further information.
S. W. Clawson, born at Stranger - also moved to Port Arthur. No further information.
William Clawson, born at Stranger - moved to New York. No further information.
Anna Clawson, b January 22,1895 at Stranger, d September 25, 1960 in Marlin - married Luther Bryson Elder at Stranger.
Herman Clawson, b 1896 at Stranger - married and lives in Woodville, Texas.
Annette Clawson, b ca 1898 - married Robert Small and moved to New York. No further information.
John I. Clawson, b January 26, 1901 at Stranger, d January 20,1924 and buried in Stranger Cemetery.
Clara Clawson, b April 28, 1906 at Stranger, d November 30, 1972 in Marlin - married first to Edward S. Singer, b June 9,1887, d October 6,1959 in Marlin - a veteran of World war I who served as a PFC, 2 PROV WING AIR SERVICE. Clara was a piano teacher in the Music Hall at Stranger School before her marriage. She and Edward Singer had one son, Bobby Singer. After Edward's death, Clara married second to Clifford E. Harrison.
