Nathan Busby was a son of Jacob and Miriam Busby, who settled in west Falls County, Texas shortly after 1850.
Nathan Busby came to Texas several years before his parents, living in Gonzales County, Texas until the mid 1860's, when he and his wife, Margaret, moved to Falls County where his parents had settled near Mooreville, Nathan and Margaret had nine children when Margaret died, and a year later, Nathan married second to Rebecca Gray - who was left a widow soon afterwards.

Bird F. Busby, b 1849, d 1912 at Stamford in Jones County, Texas - married December 7, 1869, in Falls County to Rebecca Elizabeth Caraway, b 1852 in Gonzales County, Texas - a daughter of K. S. and Nancy Caraway. Bird F. and Rebecca Elizabeth had five children: Kelon Smith Busby, b 1870; Nancy Busby, b 1872; John Franklin Busby, b 1874; Arline Busby, b 1876; and P. C. Busby, b 1882.
George Busby, b 1851 in Gonzales County, Texas - married first to Perlina Schultz in Falls County, Texas; married second to Virginia Kurgin.
James Monroe Busby, b June 2, 1852, d December 8, 1934. His first wife, Lucinda, and two children, died of typhoid fever in 1880. James Monroe married second to Martha Ann Suggs, and married third to Mrs. Melissa E. Herrington.
Elisa Busby, b 1856 - married Jeremiah M. Birkes (called "Jerry") - a son of Rial and Sarah (Buckles) Birkes, of the Carolina Community.
John Wesley Busby, b 1857 - married Mrs. M. A. Bone.
Margaret Jane Busby, b 1858 - married E. H. Caraway.
Thomas Edward Busby, b 1864 - married Clemin Rhea.
Bradford T. Busby, b 1867 - no further information.
Bradley Polk Busby, b 1868 - married Louisa E. Courtney, a daughter of James Lafayette and Mary Ellen (Barron) Courtney, of the Blevins Community in Falls County.
