Porter James Brown, Jr.
Porter James Brown, Jr., b August 7,1921 in Falls County, Texas - was a son of Reverend Porter J. and Bessie Mae (Lewis) Brown, Sr. He was married on Au- gust 15, 1939 to Hazel M. A. Barnes, b January 26, 1921 - a daughter of Arthur Monroe Barnes, b March 23, 1890, d November 14, 1966, who was married on September 15, 1907 to Mary Ellen Bullion, b April 18, 1891, d June 19, 1977. Hazel's grandparents were John and Mary Jane (Chamblee) Barnes, and Eli Thomas and Mary Elmira (Shipman) Bullion.P. J. and Hazel Brown, Jr. established the Brown Radio and T. V. business in Marlin, which they and their two sons have operated for many years. They are members of the First Baptist Church of Marlin. P. J. is active in the Marlin Chamber of Commerce and other civic enterprises. He is a Mason, Marlin Lodge #152 and the Karen Shrine Association. Bessie is a member of Marlin Eastern Star #286 and Daughters of the Nile.
They are the parents of three children:
Gene Allen Brown, b June 22, 1941 in Milam County, Texas is a graduate of Marlin High School. He is an expert in T. V. maintenance, sales, and in other electrical endeavors. Gene is a member of the First Baptist Church, the Marlin Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Palace Theatre Association's renovation project, and is past Master for Marlin Lodge #152. On October 20, 1961, he was married to Nelda Beatrice Stone, b March 14, 1942 at Criswell, Falls County, Texas - a daughter of William Newell and Mina Mae (Ray) Stone. Nelda attended Business College in Waco. She and Gene have had three children: Deanna Lynn Brown, b May 12, 1962 in Marlin; Jeffery Wayne Brown, b September 4, 1967 in Marlin; and Randel Allen Brown, b December 31, 1972 in Waco.
Edna Louise Brown, b March 17, 1944 - married first on December 23, 1962 in Marlin to Raymond Lee Hegefeld, b September 3, 1939 in Chilton, Falls County, Texas - a son of Christian Adolf and Emma Frieda (Everett) Hegefeld. They had one daughter, Susan Lee Hegefeld, b July 22, 1964 at Huntsville, Texas. On June 3, 1980, Susan Lee Hegefeld was married to Douglas Eric Robertson, and they have a son, Eric Lee Robertson, b November 16, 1983.
Larry James Brown, b January 24, 1955 in Marlin - trained as a certified electronics technician and works for the Brown Radio and T. V. business. On July 8, 1978, he was married to Mary Jane Tucker - a daughter of the late William E. Tucker and Mrs. W. E. Tucker, of Marlin. Mary Jane is a graduate of Marlin High School. They have a son, Barry James Brown, b August 3, 1986.
