Taylor Franklin Brothers
Taylor Franklin Brothers, b August 4, 1857 at Stranger, Falls County, Texas, d October 11, 1914 and buried in Stranger Cemetery, Falls County, Texas - was a son of Jesse D. and Matilda Barzilla (Maulding) Brothers who settled in 1851 in that community (then known as Blue Ridge).In 1879, Taylor Franklin Brothers married to Lenora Elizabeth Pool (called "Nora"), b August 28, 1863 at Stranger, d February 3, 1943 and buried by her husband - a daughter of Elias and Margaret (Bell) Pool. Margaret (Bell) Pool was a sister of Nancy Amanda (Bell) who married James Brothers - an older brother of Taylor Franklin Brothers - which made the aunt and her niece sisters-in-law.
Taylor Franklin and Nora were the parents of nine children, but by 1900, only five were living:
Essie Myrtle Brothers, b July 19, 1881, d July 19, 1884 and was buried in Stranger Cemetery.
Jesse Clarence Brothers (called "Boog"), b September 14, 1883, d January 21, 1953 and buried in Stranger Cemetery - married Marguerite Ann Millerman, b July 18, 1886, d April 23, 1962 and buried by her husband.
Ethel Brothers, b September 1, 1885, d May 19, 1970 - married Milton Hodge, b March 4, 1880, d January 23, 1918 soon after their marriage. They had no children. Ethel taught school all her life in various schools, including Taylor, Texas. She never remarried.
Jollie Brothers - a son, b December 8, 1887, d June 13,1889 and buried in Stranger Cemetery.
Mozelle Brothers, b August 1889, d 1948 and buried in Stranger Cemetery - never married.
Robert Talmadge Brothers (called "Sport"), b September 22, 1891 at Stranger, d February 3, 1957 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Texas - married Sadie I. Hayes, b September 8, 1896 - a daughter of Thomas Leslie and Edna (Arnett) Hayes.
Taylor Franklin Brothers, Jr., b December 27, 1893, d March 1,1897 and buried in Stranger Cemetery.
Irene Brothers, b June 23, 1895, d November 16, 1895 and buried in Stranger Cemetery.
Winnie Brothers, b October 18, 1896, d August 26, 1978 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Texas - married June 14, 1916 at Stranger to Wesley Frank McKinley, b May 30, 1890, d August 15, 1963 and buried in Calvary Cemetery.
In 1910, he was a Trustee of the Methodist Church in the Methodist-Presbyterian Union Church at Stranger.
