James Lester Brewington

James Lester Brewington, b January 12, 1874 in Indiana - a son of John Brewington and his wife (name unknown). When James Lester was sixteen years old, he left his parents' in Indiana, travelled to Oklahoma, where he became friends with the Chief of an Indian Tribe. Leaving Oklahoma a few years later, and travelling by horseback, he met a Boyd Family who were travelling by wagon - returning to Kentucky from Oklahoma. James Lester accompanied them, and in 1896 in Kentucky, he married Sarah Alice Boyd - one of the daughters.

In 1902, James Lester and family moved by train from Kentucky to Honey Grove, Texas, and after a year or two in Austin, they settled in Satin, Falls County, Texas - first on the Asa Warner farm there. James Lester was a good carpenter and farmer in the Rosenthal - Golinda area for many years. He died at age 88 years in June 1962, and was buried in Harris Cemetery at Rosenthal. Sarah Alice (Boyd) Brewington preceded her husband in death in 1952, and she also was buried in Harris Cemetery.

They were the parents of six children:
Katie Frances Brewington, b October 2, 1897 at Bowling Green, Kentucky - married on October 19, 1916 to Robert Henry Spencer Wooley of Satin, Texas.

William Simon Brewington, b January 12,1900 at Bowling Green, Kentucky - married in 1920 to Mae Allen of Satin, and d July 7,1968.

Birdie Helen Brewington, b August 1902 at Honey Grove, Texas - married in 1922 to Delmar Martin of Rockdale, Texas.

Pierce Brewington, b 1904 at Satin, Texas - married in 1940 to Audry Smith of Rosenthal, Texas.

James Ray Brewington, b 1907 at Rosenthal, Texas - married in 1927 to Selma Case of Kosse, Texas, and died in 1948.

Earl McLemore Brewington, b April 1, 1909 in Golinda, Texas - married in 1927 to Lou McAda of Waco, Texas, and died in 1970.
