Joseph Summerlin Bentley (called "Joe") married ca 1881 to Catherine Neeley, b October 11, 1862, d July 20, 1934 in Hunt County, Texas - a daughter of Joseph Hunter and Martha (Ruble) Neeley.

Joe farmed, was a school trustee at the Landrum school, and was a fiddler for the country dances in Falls County.

He and Catherine had nine children before they moved to Hunt County in 1901, and two other children were born there:
Icefena Bentley, b May 22, 1882 in Falls County, Texas, d September 7, 1882 and buried in Beulah Cemetery near Tomlinson Hill in Falls County.

Neeley Bentley, b December 21, 1883 in Falls County, d June 16, 1980 at the age of 96 years - married Katherine McWhorter, and had three children.

Fieldon Oras Bentley, b January 8, 1886 in Falls County - married Sarah Jane Pace (called "Sallie), and lived in Falls County.

Kenneth Bentley, b January 12, 1889 in Falls County, d February 8, 1890 and buried in Beulah Cemetery.

Urban Bentley, b December 12, 1891 in Falls County, d July 26, 1950 - married Bessie Wilson, and had no children.

Cecil Bentley, b April 17, 1894 in Falls County, d February 5, 1960 - married November 4, 1922 to Maud Wilson.

Jerome Bentley, b June 14, 1896 in Falls County, d October 16, 1968 - married March 10, 1923 Crenna Brooks, and had one son.

Luckie Bentley, b May 31, 1898 in Falls County - married December 24, 1916 to Lemit Pitts, and had two children.

Vi Tulia Bentley, b July 30, 1900 in Falls County - married September 12, 1920 to Clarence Ben Browning, and had three children.

Ernest Bentley, b June 7, 1902 in Hunt County - married first to Lelia Hankins, and married second to Mary Doeg. He had no children.
