Clarence Eugene Barganier

Deposit, Alabama, d November 15, 1966 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas and buried in Calvary Cemetery - was the eldest of four children of John Salter and Virginia Elizabeth (Price) Barganier. He attended school at Ft. Deposit, and was a member of the National Guard.
In 1906, "Mr. Genie" followed his cousins to Falls County, settling at Cedar Springs, where he purchased a ranch. On January 19, 1907, he was married in Falls County to Mittie Leona Watkins, b September 1,1889 in Falls County, d February 28, 1956 in Marlin, and buried in Calvary Cemetery - a daughter of George Washington Watkins, b August 22, 1856 in Alabama, d July 6,1941 and buried in Powers Chapel Cemetery Falls County, Texas, and his wife, Laura Marilla (Russell Watkins, b December 29, 1869, d February 28 1947 and buried in Powers Chapel Cemetery. George W. Watkins came to Falls County after the Civil War with his parents, Ruben Watkins, b 1798 in Virginia, d July 13, 1888, and his wife, Mary, b February 16, 1836 d August 12, 1899, and two known brothers, Thomas Jefferson Watkins and David Watkins - all buried in Powers Chapel Cemetery.
"Mr. Genie" was a farmer and stockman, and active in the Cedar Springs school and church affairs. He served as a school trustee for many years, and was a member of the Cedar Springs Methodist Church. Besides his Brazos Bottom farm, he owned the Watson Ranch at Lott.
In 1933, the family moved to a brick on Easy Street in Marlin, Texas, where one of his daughters reared her four children and still owns the home.

Bessie Mae Barganier, b September 28, 1908 - married November 7, 1927 to Harvey Leonard Burkes, of New Salem.
Emmie Barganier, b October 2, 1910, died in 1980 - married September 29, 1903 to William H. Pfeiffer, of Houston, Texas.
Lorene Eugenia Barganier, b August 27, 1916 - married first on July 26, 1934 to William Archer Price, Jr., and had William Eugene Price, James Earl Price, Virginia Elizabeth Price, and Mary Ann Price. She subsequently married on April 28, 1972 to Cornelius Moore Anding, Sr., and lives at Wilderville, Falls County, Texas.

You may want to add to Clarence Eugene Barganier's biography that his father's, John Salter Barganier, parents were Jesse and Nancy Salter Barganier. Jesse was the first Barganier to come to Lowndes County, Fort Deposit, AL, in 1819. They both are buried here in Fort Deposit Myrtlewood Cemetary. Nancy was born before anyone else in the cemetary.
