SHIELDS SCHOOL
Shields
School was located in Falls County, and built on property donated by
the Shields family. There is very little information available about
this school. At some point, it joined with the Morris and Beulah
schools to become part of the Hoolia School District #9. The school
served students in the area until sometime after the Bruceville-Eddy
rural consolidated school district was formed, after which the
students, who had formerly attended Shields School, began attending the
Bruceville-Eddy consolidated school in nearby Eddy. Where once stood a
school, church and tabernacle, there now is a vacant field.
Note: The following photocopies were provided by Patsy Duty of Eddy,
Texas. Patsy works at the City Hall in Eddy, where copies of these
photos are on display to all who wish to view them.
