LEON D. YEZAK, SR.

Leon D. Yezak,
Sr., 87, of Marlin, Falls Co., Texas, passed away Monday, March 7, 2005, at
Falls Community Hospital in Marlin.
Rosary was be recited
at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at the Bremond Funeral with family
visitation following. Services were at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2005 at
St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marlin with Father Chris Ferrer officiating.
Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin.
Mr. Yezak was
born April 11,1917, in Bremond, Texas, to Kie and Josephine (Klotz) Yezak. He
was very proud of serving his country during WWII as part of the Company D 103rd
Infantry division of the United States Army. From February 1941 through
September 1945, he served in several locations throughout the South Pacific
Ocean, including New Zealand, New Caledonia, New Guinea, New Georgia,
Guadalcanal and others of the Solomon Islands, the Russell Islands and Luzon of
the Phillipines. During actual combat he was attached at times to PT Squadron No
9. He received a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star Good Conduct
Medal and an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars.
He married
Pauline Muzyka on January 23, 1946. They were married for 59 years After
spending a few years in Bremond, they made their in Marlin, where he worked as
head plumber at the VA Hospital until his retirement.
He was preceded
in death by his parents and brothers Herman, Ted, Dan, Mitchell, Andrew and
Edmund Yezak.
He is survived by his
wife, Pauline Yezak; two sons, Charles Ray Yezak, Sr, and wife Nellie, and Leon
D. Yezak, Jr. and wife Sue, all of Marlin; six grandchildren, Charles Ray Yezak,
Jr., and wife, Maria of Tampa, Florida, Christi and Kimberly Yezak of Marlin,
Danny Yezak and wife Shelley of Hutto, Denise Bachert and husband David of Katy,
and Ashley Yezak and wife Jessica of Riesel; five great-grandchildren, Dylan
Hamlin and Emma Yezak, Elizabeth and Rebekah Bachert and Kaitlyn Yezak; one
sister, Helen Kleypas of Marlin, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbears were
Charles Yezek Jr., Danny Yezak, Ashley Yezak, David Bachert, Gearld Yezak and
Robert Yezak.
Leon was a
caring and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather
and friend He will forever be remembered for the interesting stories he told
about the past and will be greatly missed by his family, the pride and joy of
his life.

BREMOND —
Services for Leon D. Yezak, Sr., 87, of Marlin are set for 10 a.m. Friday at St.
Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marlin.
The Rev. Chris
Ferrer will officiate. Burial will
be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin.
Visitation will
be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bremond Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited
at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Yezak died
Monday at Falls Community Hospital in Marlin.
He was born in
Bremond and lived in Marlin for 54 years.
Mr. Yezak was a plumber for the Veterans Hospital in Marlin. He was a member of
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marlin. He served in the U.S. Army during World
War II.
Survivors
include his wife, Pauline Yezak of Marlin; two sons and daughters-in-law,
Charles and Nellie Yezak and Leon D. Jr. and Sue Yezak, all of Marlin; a sister,
Helen Kleypas of Marlin; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
