Bonnie Merle Yancey
October 1, 1913 – December 20, 2008
Bonnie Merle Yancey was born October 1, 1913 to Hubert and Myrtle Lee Cleaves
Montgomery in Adell, Texas. She passed away December 20, 2008.
As a young girl she moved to South Bend, Texas where she attended school until
her senior year and graduated from Graham High School.
Mrs. Yancey attended Brantley-Drauighn Business School and was a legal secretary
for many years. She also worked at the Fair Department Store for several years,
The Continental National Bank Trust Department for 35 years and after retiring
from there she worked for Frank Bowie for 8 years.
She belonged to the Methodist Church in Weatherford, Texas, and served as
Secretary for the local AARP group.
In September 2007 she moved to Marlin, Texas where she resided with her sister
Jackie Greger.
Mrs. Yancey is survived by 3 sisters: Winelle Rogers of Wichita Falls, Jackie
Greger of Marlin, Texas and Naomi Erwin and husband Sherwin, along with numerous
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Royce W. Yancey, a brother, Monty
Montgomery and her parents.
A memorial service was held at Greenwood Chapel on White Settlement Road at 2
p.m. on Monday, December 22.
