S. S. WARD
NATIVE OF MARLIN DIES SUDDENLY AT HIS HOME
Deceased Had Been in Ill Health for Several Years: Had
resided in Marlin All his Life
S. S. Ward, 66, a native of Marlin and
Falls County, died at his home, 216 Craik street, shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday
following a long period of ill health.
Mr. Ward had sustained a number of severe strokes during the past years and had
been in feeble health for some time.
Deceased
was a son of Mr. And Mrs. S.S. Ward, pioneer settlers in Falls County. He was born in Marlin September 3. 1870,
and had resided in Marlin all his life.
In his early life, he was a planter and
later conducted a grocery store in Marlin. He retired from business several
years ago when his health became bad.
He married Miss Lillie Lee Nunnelley June
18, 1902. He is survived by one daughter, Miss Lillie Lee Ward of Marlin; one
son, Wm. Ward of Marlin; a brother, Frank Ward of Marlin; two sisters, Mrs. Dora
Scott of Waco and Mrs. Annie Crawford of New Orleans, La.
He was a long time member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services had not been completed in the afternoon.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR NATIVE OF MARLIN
Funeral services for S. S. Ward, 66 a
native of Marlin, who died at his home, 216 Craik street, Tuesday noon, were
held from the Adams Funeral at 10:30 o’clock Wednesday with the Rev. W.O.
Wright, pastor of the First Baptist Church, conducting the services.
Burial was in Calvary cemetery.
Pallbearers were:
A. G. Hendrick, J.C. Holloway, Sam Kyser, J. A. Phipps,Sr., J. B. Turner and
Boyce Brown.
Out-of-town relatives here for the funeral
were Mrs. Sam R. Scott and son, Sam Frank; Mrs. Rhoda Parnell McClain and Emmett
McClain, all of Waco and Misses Allie and Jim Gill and Sam Gill of Mart.
