One of the most horriable (sic) accidents that has ever occurred in this county, happened Wednesday night at the Mr. Herman Neinast two miles east of town.
Mrs. Winkeling who with her husband was staying at the Neinast home, is dead, from burns received before the flames could be extinguished.
Mrs. Winkeling was standing or sitting before the fire when her clothing becamed (sic) ignited and in an instant her body was enveloped with a wreath of flames.
Mr. Neinast and the husband of the woman both made heroic efforts to extinguish the fire but were unable to do so in time to save the poor woman of the fate of being so fearfully burned that she died from the wounds at five o'clock this morning.
In attempting a rescue the unfortunate woman both the husband and Mr. Neinast were severly burned about the hands and face and are suffering very much.
A physician was called immediately but nothing in power of medical skill could stay the hand of death from the unfortunate woman and death came as a relief at the hour stated.
Mrs. Winkeling was 23 years old and a sister of Mrs. Neinast.  She and her husband had only recently moved here from Gay Hill, Washington County.
