Mrs. Annie
Willis, 60 years old, beloved Bell county resident who had lived in or near
Temple for more than 33 years, died at her home, 411 South Twenty-third street,
Wednesday night at 11:55 o'clock after an illness of several months.
Mrs. Willis was
born in England, Aug 9, 1865, her parents moving to New York when she was only a
small girl, where in later years she met the man whom she married. He died
here in 1922. To this union, nine children were born, three preceding her
to the grave when they were very small. The six surviving were all here to
attend the funeral services yesterday afternoon. The children are: A. W.
Willis of Navasota: four daughters, Miss Catherine Willis of Temple, Mrs. J. F.
Reed of Fort Worth, Mrs. J. C. McCrary of Mexia and Mrs. R. G. Frazier of Lott.
Funeral services
were held at the family residence by Rev. W. W. Rivers of the Memorial Baptist
Church at 1:30 O’clock, Thursday afternoon. Elder R. J. Smith conducted a
short service at the Theo church where she was laid to rest at the side of her
husband.
