Herbert L. Williams was born November 17, 1905 in Marlin,
Texas to the parentage of the late Dan and Maggie Williams.
He professed faith in Christ early in life, joining the Marlin
Baptist Church, Marlin, Texas.
He received his formal education at Booker T. Washington High School in Marlin, and Prairie View A&M College in Prairie View, Texas earning two teaching certificates.
He lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma and several cities in Texas. He came
to make his home in Dallas in April 1933. He married Katie T. Weathersby in 1942.
He was employed by the Adolphus Hotel for more than 25 years, working as Bell Captain during a major part of this employment. After retiring from the Adolphus, he was employed by the Dallas Housing Authority as assistant manager at George Loving Housing Complex, where he retired after seven years.
He united with Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas in 1981. He served on the Church's Courtesy Committee from 1982 until he passed in 1993.
Left to mourn his passing are: his wife, Katie T. Williams; daughter, Doris Weathersby Brown and family from San Antonio, Texas; son, Carey S. Weathersby and family from Herndon, Virginia; sister, Odessa J. Jackson and husband, James (Jimmy) Jackson of Dallas, Texas; a host of granchildren, great grandchildren and friends.
