Emma Kilgore Whitt, 76, of Marlin died Friday morning in a
local hospital.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Adams Funeral with Elder Arthur Allen
officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Whitt was born March 24, 1913, at Rosebud, a daughter of Ira
C. Swanner and Lillie Ann Rhodes Swanner. On April 29, 1929, she was
married to Claude Kilgore. He died Nov. 8, 1953. On Sept. 3, 1982,
she married Harold Whitt, who died Feb. 15, 1984. A son, Claude Kilgore,
Jr., also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Whitt had been employed at the Falls Hotel for several years. She was
a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include four sons, Ralph Kilgore of Waco, William Kilgore of Houston,
Clyde Gene Kilgore of Hearne and Donald Kilgore of Madisonville; three
daughters, Ruth Ward of Waco, Dorothy McElhaney of Brownwood and Mary Ann
Douglas of Marlin; two sisters, Mae Belle Crosby of Chilton and Exer Murphy of
Waco; 25 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-granddaughter. A grandson, Billy Ray Kilgore, resides in
Smith, Ala.
