MRS. M. WHIRTER DEAD
A telegram has been received stating
that Mrs. Martha McWhirter died in Washington City April 20.
Mrs. McWhirter lived in this place for a number of
years, and was the founder of the band of women known as the "Sanctifieds."
Mrs. McWhirter was also well known in Waco having been
proprietor of the Royal hotel for some time. She was assisted in the management
of the hotel, by members of the band of women of which she was the leader and
the public showed by a liberal patronage an appreciation of their enterprise.
Mrs. McWhirter went from here to Washington and established a hotel with her
usual success - Times-Herald.
