Willie Daniel Turner
August 7, 1924 – June 9, 2007
Willie Daniel Turner, 82, of Rosebud, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 in a Cameron
hospital.
Services were held Saturday, June 9, 2007 in the First Baptist Church of Rosebud
with Pastor Aaron Anderson officiating.
Burial was in Bluebonnet Cemetery in Rosebud.
Deacon Turner was born August 7, 1924 to the late Rev. Freeman Tyler and Winnie
Mae Hamilton Turner in Rosebud.
He attended Wilson White High School in Rosebud. He retired after 50 years
service as a truck driver for Rosebud Feed and Grain.
He was a member of Independence Baptist Church in Rosebud and later joined the
Manasseh C.O.G.I.C. where he was ordained as a deacon, served as Sunday school
teacher, superintendent of Sunday School, trustee board chairman, usher board,
choir president, and president of the Brotherhood and YPWW.
He married his "Alberta Peach", Minerva Hicks on December 5, 1963.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ora Mae Turner; daughter, Barbara
Nell McIntyre; two brothers, Charles and Freeman; and two sisters, Ruth Turner
and Osia Maze.
Survivors include his wife, Minerva Turner of Rosebud; seven daughters, Ruby
Featherson, Wanda Rollins, and Diane Turner of Killeen, Renee Brooks of Waco,
Karen Turner and Annette Turner of Rosebud, Leticia and Carl Wilson of Hearne;
sons, W.D. Turner, Jr. and Jackie Turner of Santa Monica, Calif., James and
Doris Hicks of Waco, Felix and Beverly Jackson and Gaylon Turner of Temple; two
sisters, Olean and Roscoe Davis of Killeen, and Vernita Jamesion of Calif.; 36
grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
