Funeral Services for Wesley D. Stone Held Friday
Funeral services for Wesley D. Stone, 59, 1302 Navarro,
who died at 1:37 a.m. Thursday in Marlin, were held at the Church of Christ in
Marlin, with Minister John Featherstone of the Mart Church of Christ
officiating. Burial in Criswell cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews of deceased.
Mr. Stone was born in Callahan County on Oct. 29, 1898.
He had farmed in the Otto community, operated a grocery store a few years at
Watt, lived in Waco two years and later resided on a farm the family owned near
Kirk. For the past six years he and Mrs. Stone had lived in Mart. On
Dec. 19, 1923, he and the former Miss Laura Denton of the Eureka community in
Falls County were married. He had been a member of the Church of Christ
for many years.
Deceased had been in ill health for four years and had
received hospitalization at intervals. In November his condition became
worse, and for awhile he was in a Marlin hospital. Last Tuesday night he
again entered a Marlin hospital where death occurred Thursday. He was a
highly respected Christian gentleman, and had many friends who will regret to
hear of his death.
He is survived by his widow; an adopted daughter, Mrs.
Almeda Skains of Mart; six brothers, George Stone, A. C. Stone, W. N. Stone, all
of Rt. 2 Marlin, J. C. Stone of Rt. 4, Groesbeck, R. C. Stone of Frosa, and G.
B. Stone of Marlin; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Stone of Prairie Hill, and Mrs. Lois
Warneke of Rt. 3, Mart; and two granddaughters, Barbara Ann and Leoneta Skains.
