IDA MADGE STEPHENSON
Ida Madge Stephenson, 80,
died on March 17, 2001 in Temple, Texas. Burial was at Bellwood Memorial Park on
Tuesday, March 20, 2001 following a private service.
Miss Stephenson was born in Temple on
December 24, 1920 to Caska W. Stephenson and Ethel Eddins Stephenson. She
was reared on the family farm east of Eddy, Texas and attended schools in that
area, graduating from Bruceville-Eddy High School in 1938. She attended
Texas College for Women in Denton, Texas receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree
in 1940 and a Masters Degree of Education in 1947.
Miss Stephenson was an early volunteer in
1942 for the Women's Army Corps (WAC) and served four years during World War II
as a Medical Laboratory Technician, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
After he honorable discharge, she began a 32 year career as an elementary school
teacher and mentor for student teachers in Corpus Christi, Texas. Upon her
retirement, she moved to Temple to be with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents,
two brothers, A. W. Stephenson III, C. W. (Steve) Stephenson, Jr., and nephew,
Ronald Leach Stephenson.
Surviving are nephews Craig R. Stephenson,
C. S. Stephenson III,
nieces Patra Stephenson and Casey Laine Stephenson. She also leave (sic)
behind friends and students to whom she was deeply devoted.

Services for Ida Madge
Stephenson, 80, of Temple will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Bellwood Memorial Park.
Ms. Stephenson died Saturday, March 17, in
Temple.
She was born in Temple. She attended
Bruceville-Eddy High School. She earned a bachelor's of science degree and
a master's degree in education from Texas College for Women. She was a
retired teacher of 32 years in Corpus Christi. She was a veteran of the U.
S. Army during World War II.
Visitation will be 8 a.m.- 9 p.m. today at
Sheffield Funeral of Temple.
