FOREST HENRY “HAL” SPENCER
1915 – April 5, 2006
Forest Henry
“Hal” Spencer, passed away on April 5, 2006 at the Veterans in Temple. A
memorial service was held Saturday, April 8, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church
in Marlin and was conducted by Dr. F. H. Mitchell.
Mr. Spencer was
born in 1915 in Itasca to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Spencer. He graduated from Marlin
High School and Sam Houston College with a degree in music. He served in the U.
S. Air Force as band director and Staff Sgt. He served as band director for
Marlin High School from 1945 until the mid-1970's, and lived in Marlin for most
of his life.
Five brothers,
Hunter, Boyd, Raymond, Oscar, and Wilkins, and two sisters, Gussie and Mary
Catherine, preceded him in death.
Survivors
include his wife, Dorothy; son, David of Dallas; grandson, Timothy; nephews,
Jerry Spencer of Ada, OK., Tom and Bill Spencer of Houston, Ray Spencer of
Upland, CA., Bill Mossman of Temple; two great-grandchildren of Cedar Park.
Other survivors
include grand-nephew, Ron Spencer; Sue Boesl of Dripping Springs, and Patsy
Coffer of Concan.
