MARY SIMONS
Mary E. Simons, 94, of
Waco, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 20, 2003. Services will be at 2
p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel.
Interment to follow at Rosenthal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8
p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Simons was born on Feb. 7, 1908, in
Marlin, Texas, to William and Emma (Kerby) Smith. She worked as a
seamstress for Clifton Manufacturing during and after WWII. She was a
longtime member and past president of the 36th Women's Auxiliary and as a girl,
she was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church and later attended Clay Street
Christian Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and
friend. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Hubert
A. Simons and her first husband, Charlie M. Barrett; son, Roger E. Barrett;
infant daughter, Nettie L. Simons; granddaughter, Stephanie Barrett and
great-grandson, Nathan Daniel Barrett.
She is survived by her son, Charlie M.
Barrett and wife, Esther of Waco; daughter Judy See and husband, Roy of Peru,
Ind.; daughter-in-law, Shirley Barrett of Waco; six grandchildren, Dennis
Barrett, Terri Barrett, Cindy Curbo and husband, Marty, all of Waco, Sharon
Barrett of Fort Worth, Nick Margott and wife, Kimi of San Diego, Calif., and
Mario Margott of Los Angeles, Calif; nine great-grandchildren, Jenna Barrett,
Brad Barrett and wife, Julie, Beth Barrett, Jacob Barrett, Carlie Curbo,
Charlie Matthew Barrett, James Lewis Curbo, Shelby Barrett and Logan Barrett;
and one great-great-grandson, Adain Barrett; as well as numerous nieces and
nephews.
Pallbearers will be Henry Wayne (Penny)
Sovey, Curtis (Buddy) Glockzin, Truman L. Simons, Mario Margott, Jacob Barrett,
and Brad Barrett. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Connelly, Lewis Curbo,
Shelby Barrett and Logan Barrett.
A special thank-you to all who cared for
our Mother and Granny, especially the staff of Reagent Care, Hillcrest Baptist
Medical Center and the Hillcrest Hospice Staff.
